Milk Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Royal Gorge is a very popular ski area close by; on a great day you can take a hike along the Crooked Lakes Trail. That right there is a load already, but it carries on; Milk Lake has it all. Head up to Soda Springs and strap some skis to your feet, and at Milk Lake you always meet someone from Truckee-Grass Valley.

| | Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing things in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Camping at Milk Lake is great fun, Grouse Ridge Campground is a great local campground; Fall Creek Mountain is pretty and can be seen from here. So many cool things in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just tremendous. Near Milk Lake you hit upon the Spaulding Lake Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail, and Milk Lake is a great place to camp, Carr-Feeley Campground is a great place.

A perfect close by hotel is Rainbow Lodge; Yuba River - South Fork is a splendid whitewater spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. The Round Lake Trail is a tremendous hiking trail close to Milk Lake, and a delightful location for
whitewater paddling is Fordyce Creek. All the water falling down from the sky makes Milk Lake a wet spot; January is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is July.
For the period of the days of summer
here at Milk Lake, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Milk
Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You'll stumble on a charming lake called Crooked Lakes near Milk Lake, and after a long day outdoors Shinneyboo Creek Cabin Resort is a great location to spend a night or two.
