This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Yuba River - South Fork, and magnificent hiking is available along the Big Spring Trail. The snow is wonderful at Alpine Meadows; possibly you're looking for nearby lakes? Sure, Little Needle Lake is just a very short distance away.       The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Mildred Lakes. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Mildred Lakes. Go for a hike on the Five Lakes Creek Trail; Heavens Gate is another perfect site to check out close by. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Mildred Lakes. If you need a place to stay Squaw Valley Lodge is a great                  choice, and going for a hike on the Steamboat Trail is always a tremendous adventure. This lake is so wonderful. You're possibly keen on lakes, Needle Lake is one of those nearby, and Picayune Valley is a tremendous location here at Mildred Lakes. Mildred Lakes gets lots of water; the wettest month of the year is typically January, that's the one that rains the most, and July meanwhile is the driest month. Whohoo, so many fun things in one place! The Northern Sierra Nevada is excellent! The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Squaw Valley, and Mildred Lakes is good enough to spend more than a day at, Talbot Campground is a good local campground. Be careful coming to Mildred Lakes, you might not ever want to go home again. Now, you may think that's loads but there's even more exciting things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. A great place to camp here at Mildred Lakes is Hell Hole-In Campground, and get your heart beating on the good whitewater of Silver Creek - South Fork. This lake is so wonderful.
