Near Meiss Lake you hit upon the Hawley Grade Trail which is a good hiking trail; Meiss Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Woods Lake Campground is a magnificent local campground. Going for a hike on the Charity Valley Trail is always a great adventure, and Mokelumne River - North Fork is a nice whitewater spot nearby. Meiss Lake mostly gets a good deal of rainfall; the month       of January is the wettest with most of the snow, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. You could also visit Round Lake while you're here at Meiss Lake; it's nearby, and camping at Alpine Campground is always a nice experience. And that's not all you can do here at Meiss Lake. Go for a hike on the Burnside Lake Trail; Meiss Lake is not the only site nearby, Four Lakes is a nearby lake. If you're here, you might as well visit                  Dixon Canyon, and the snow is good at Kirkwood. So many exciting things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada, too perfect to be true. If you need a place to stay Meadowstone is a perfect choice, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Sierra at Tahoe is rather near. This lake is so wonderful. If you don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on American River - South Fork, and dry warm beds await you at The Meadow. Here at Meiss Lake you'll possibly meet some people from Gardnerville Ranchos. Meiss Lake is a beautiful lake in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Meiss Lake. Summer night lows fall down to the 40's.
