In California there are many beautiful lakes, McKinstry Lake is one of them. McKinstry Lake is a wet place that gets much precipitation; most of the rain falls during January, and the driest month of the year is July. But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. At McKinstry Lake you can observe Guide Peak, and if you came for an overnight stay Wentworth Springs Campground is a fine site to camp. Go for a hike on the Steamboat Trail;

| | Mineral Springs is a delightful place to take a look at while you're at McKinstry Lake.
Lakes are great; Berts Lake is a lake that's in close proximity to McKinstry Lake, and if you need a place to stay Squaw Valley Lodge is a good choice. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the McKinstry Trail is always a perfect adventure, and there's whitewater on Silver Creek - South Fork for all you adrenaline people. That right there is loads already, but | |

it continues; McKinstry Lake has it all. Alpine Meadows has great slopes and a friendly staff; Hells Half Acre is right here at McKinstry Lake.
At McKinstry Lake through the summertime highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down
it sinks down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are generally in the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at McKinstry Lake temperatures fall to the 20's. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. Don't leave McKinstry Lake without first going for a hike along the Loon Lake Trail; do explore Barker Creek if you're here at McKinstry Lake.
Pleasant Boat-In Campground
is a great local campground, and don't leave McKinstry Lake without first checking out Red Cliffs. This is no place for people who don’t like to have a good time. You can run the rapids of American River - South Fork near McKinstry
Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Homewood is a very popular ski area close at hand; a magnificent nearby hotel is Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn.
