McKinney Lake is a nice lake to visit. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to McKinney Lake, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at McKinney Lake. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada.
This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at General Creek Campground, and there's tremendous hiking along the Pacific

| | Crest Trail - section 14. McKinney Lake gets a normal amount of precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow; the driest month is July. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place. A brilliant location for whitewater paddling near McKinney Lake is American River - South Fork, and why not camp at Eagle Falls Campground while you're here at McKinney Lake.

Beach while you're here at McKinney Lake, and if you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Silver Creek - South Fork. That right there is plenty of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada
has it all. If you need a site to stay Granlibakken Resort is a tremendous choice, and if you want to hit the beach, Calawee Cove Beach is around here. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining things
in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Very picturesque scenery and delightful skiing is what you get at Homewood, and the Highland Trail offers hiking at its best.
Don't leave McKinney Lake without first going for a hike along the General
Creek Trail, and while you're here, you could also visit picturesque Buck Lake. You'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Alpine Meadows since you're here; dry warm beds await you at Meeks Bay Resort And Marina.
