Bridges Creek is a perfect local stream, and great hiking is available along the Chaos Crags Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Get your pulse rate up on the splendid whitewater of Mill Creek, and a pleasant journey to McCumber Flat is a good way to spend an afternoon. This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Cascade Range. There's just no way someone can get bored here at McCumber Reservoir.       Not far from McCumber Reservoir, you'll locate Cirque Lake which is a beautiful lake, and don't leave McCumber Reservoir without first going for a hike along the Heart Lake Twin Meadows Trail. There are other places here than McCumber Reservoir, for example North Battle Creek Reservoir, and there's wonderful hiking along the Bunchgrass Trail. This lake is so wonderful. The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Manzanita Spring; a brilliant spot to camp here                  at McCumber Reservoir is Mt Lassen/Shingletown KOA. So many entertaining things in the Southern Cascade Range, just mind-blowing. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Battle Creek - South Fork, and McCumber Reservoir is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Shasta County Schools Camp is a tremendous local campground. And that's not all you can do here in the Southern Cascade Range. Visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet, and people from Red Bluff love to come here. At McCumber Reservoir throughout the summertime highs are in the 90's while night lows are regularly in the 60's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's, and winter nights come with lows in the 30's to McCumber Reservoir.
