But wait, there's more cool things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. If the weather is delightful, you obtain a great view of McConnell Peak from McConnell Lake, and Homewood has great slopes and a friendly staff. Horseshoe Lake is a good lake next to McConnell Lake, and you can hit the slopes at Sierra at       Tahoe in close proximity. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are such serene locations, why not have a look at Leland Lakes close to McConnell Lake, and there are some fine whitewater spots on Silver Creek - South Fork. McConnell Lake gets a normal amount of yearly rainfall; January is when you get the most snow here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. During the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at McConnell                  Lake. For the period of the moonlight hours it's typically in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's with temperatures at McConnell Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. And that's not all you can do here at McConnell Lake. McConnell Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Wentworth Springs Campground is a great local campground, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend American River - South Fork. The Red Peak Trail is a splendid hiking trail near McConnell Lake. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at McConnell Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Pleasant Boat-In Campground is a brilliant location for that, and if you need a place to stay Granlibakken Lodge and Conference Center is a nice choice. McConnell Lake is a beautiful lake in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada.
