Why not stop by Marsh Lake if you're passing through these parts. From a rain point of view Marsh Lake is a reasonably common place; January is when you get the most rain here while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If the weather is magnificent here at Marsh Lake, you can go for a hike along the Sheep Creek Trail, and you can stay the night at Lily Pad Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Really good skiing awaits you at Sierra Summit.

| | All year is a glorious time in the Central Sierra Nevada if you go for the outdoors. The Don Cecil Trail is a splendid hiking trail in the neighborhood of Marsh Lake, and glide down the rapids of Kings River in a kayak. And that's not all you can do here at Marsh Lake. On a perfect day at Marsh Lake you can take a hike along the Red Mountain Trail; not far from Marsh Lake you'll stumble on Woodchuck Lake which is a lovely lake. Through the warmest time of the | |

year at Marsh Lake highs are ordinarily in the 70's, and the night is fairly cooler of course, generally in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 40's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Marsh Lake. So much cool stuff
to do here in the Central Sierra Nevada, too great to be true. Paddling on Kings River - Middle Fork is so much fun, and Upper Box is a fine place to stretch your legs a bit. Marsh Lake is a beautiful lake in the Central Sierra Nevada.
Lakes are delightful; Chimney Lake is a lake that's near Marsh Lake. There's so much to do here at Marsh Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Voyager Rock Campground is a great site for that. This lake is so wonderful.
The view of Loper Peak from Marsh Lake is beautiful, and a spree to Indian Springs will fill your soul with wonderful feelings.

Jackass's Meadows Campground
 | 14 miles away I've been to the campground and it is a great area; however, it is NOT an arid environment as the description says.? It is located at over 7000 feet in a forested area.? In addition, there is NO access to Devils Postpile (or the Mammoth area, as is implied by the lodging links). The campground is located at the end of the road and there is no road pass over the Sierra anywhere in this area. This campground is seasonal and is snowed in completely in the winter. ... |
Rainbow Lake
 | 14 miles away Rainbow lake, as well as numerous other lakes in the Dinkey Lakes Wilderness Area are well worth the moderate effort it takes to visit. Rainbow lake itself is cupped between a low granite ridge and a steeper, curving granite wall. It is a beautifully clear lake populated with large numbers of rainbow trout which I assume gave it the name. Information, registration, and restrictions can all be obtained at the Ranger station located in the town of Prather. We camp at this lake at least twice a year, and it is always one of my favorites.... |
