     Get yourself into a kayak and hit Fresno River, and Sugar Loaf West Resort is a glorious campground nearby. Madera Lake is pretty waterless frequently; the wettest month of the year is generally March, that's the one that rains the most; the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. You'll meet a lot of people from Madera here; after a long day outdoors Madera Valley Inn is a fine place to spend a night or two. At Madera Lake throughout the  
   days of summer highs are in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 50's, and night lows at Madera Lake through the wintertime usually plunge into the 30's.
Golf can be played at Madera Municipal Golf Course, and in all probability you're looking for close by lakes? Sure, Madera Equalization Reservoir is just a very short distance away. Any time is a splendid time at Madera Lake if you fancy
 
               the outdoors. Sunset West is a pleasant local campground; a glorious close by hotel is SpringHill Suites Madera.
This is a nice vicinity for folks who like lakes. Hensley Lake is a lake in the vicinity, and there are some good whitewater spots on Chowchilla River.

This is a great lake in the Sierra foothills outside Fresno. It's a good windsurfing lake on stormy days although it gets very gusty. The best place to launch is on the east side of the lake. But if you're not windsurfing the west side is a lot nicer and less crowded with lots of big rocks and small scattered beaches. There's a small waterfall on the west side as well just a very short hike up the hill. Camping is on the west side as well....
