If you need a spot to stay Deer Creek Inn is a good choice; why not head up to Royal Gorge and strap some skis to your feet. This lake is one of the great places here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. That right there is loads already, but it goes on; Lower Salmon Lake has it all. Go for a hike on the Pacific Crest Trail - section 15; if you came to camp Diablo Campground is a nice place to do that.
