This lake is located in the wonderful Central Sierra Nevada. If you came for an overnight stay Cold Water Campground is a great spot to camp, and don't leave Lost Lake without first going for a hike along the Mammoth Rock Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Devils Postpile National Monument is one of the destinations close to Lost Lake that are good to go to; magnificent skiing awaits you at June Mountain. This lake is so wonderful. There are some fine

| | whitewater spots on San Joaquin River - South Fork; there are other locations here than Lost Lake, for example Sherwin Lakes. Lost Lake gets very little rainfall; most of the rain falls through January, and June is when it's the driest. Not far from Lost Lake, you'll stumble on Valentine Lake which is a wonderful lake; skiing at Mammoth Mountain is one of those things you just have to do.
