This lake is so wonderful. There are some fine

whitewater spots on San Joaquin River - South Fork; there are other locations here than Lost Lake, for example Sherwin Lakes. Lost Lake gets very little rainfall; most of the rain falls through January, and June is when it's the driest. Not far from Lost Lake, you'll stumble on Valentine Lake which is a wonderful lake; skiing at Mammoth Mountain is one of those things you just have to do.
Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Central Sierra Nevada. If you need

a place to stay Rodeway Inn Sierra Nevada is a fine choice; if you come at the right time of year, Mono Creek offers some delightful whitewater. There's magnificent hiking along the John Muir Trail - section 2. High temperatures at Lost Lake during the summer months are in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Lost Lake.
Man, is there loads of amusing stuff to do next to Lost Lake. Dry warm beds await you at Mammoth Creek Inn, and right next door to Lost Lake you discover a golf course called Snowcreek Golf Course. But wait, there's more exciting stuff to do in the Central Sierra Nevada. Camping is available at McGee Creek RV Park and Campground, and you can go for a hike on the Sherwin Lakes Trail.
