Millerton Lake
4 PHOTOS Lake Millerton: We had the picnic and the BBQ right next to the water.... Lake Millerton: Floating in fun here too. The water is really calm in this part of the lake.... Lake Millerton: We're having a great time in the lake.... This is a great lake in the Sierra foothills outside Fresno. It's a good windsurfing lake on stormy days although it gets very gusty. The best place to launch is on the east side of the lake. But if you're not windsurfing the west side is a lot nicer and less crowded with lots of big rocks and small scattered beaches. There's a small waterfall on the west side as well just a very short hike up the hill. Camping is on the west side as well....
Millerton Lake State Recreation Area
I agree that Millerton is a wonderful place but the ''summer temps'' are typically close to a hundred. Not 80, so be prepared and I wouldn't say it ''gets lots of rain.''...madera side camp ground by boat launch...
Dorabelle Campground - Sierra National Forest
The campground was very nice, walking distance to the lake, nice size lots with extra space to play games, etc. Beautiful trees and scenery, many acitivies to do, hiking, bike riding, swimming, horse back riding among other things. The only disadvantage is there are no showers, we had to go to the next camp ground, Camp Edision to shower for a small fee but other than that it was great, also the staff is extra friendly and very helpful....
Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park
65 miles away Kings Canyon has this great cave you can go into with all kinds of cool formations....
