     Minaret Falls is a picturesque place to have a look at while you're at Lost Dog Lake, and don’t forget to explore Johnston Meadow since you're here at Lost Dog Lake. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! The Central Sierra Nevada is excellent! In the event that you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on San Joaquin River - Middle Fork; hiking is a popular thing to do around Lost Dog Lake; Mammoth Rock Trail is a fine local  
   trail. If you need a place to stay Mammoth Mountain Inn is a nice choice, and there's great hiking along the John Muir Trail - section 2.
This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes? Sure, Johnston Lake is near Lost Dog Lake, and hey, Gotta ski right? Mammoth Mountain is a magnificent place to do that. Lost Dog Lake in fact is in the middle of a gorgeous outdoors paradise. Lost Dog Lake is located in the Central Sierra Nevada.
What a place this is for
 
               outdoors folks. Everybody close by loves skiing at June Mountain, and you're in all probability interested in lakes, Castle Lake is one of those nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Mono Creek has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot nearby, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Sherwin Lakes Trail. The amount of precipitation that falls at Lost Dog Lake is close to the national average; January is when you get the most rain here, and the driest of the months is June.
You just can't imagine the amount of outdoors enjoyable things the Central Sierra Nevada has to offer. A great close by hotel is Snowbird Condos at Mammoths Canyon Lodge, and if you came for an overnight stay Minaret Falls Campground is a fine place to camp. Summer at Lost Dog Lake comes with high temperatures in the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs through the winter are usually in the 40's; night lows at Lost Dog Lake through the wintertime typically plunge into the 20's. Reds Meadow Campground is a magnificent local campground, and on a delightful day you acquire a good view of Red Top Mountain from Lost Dog Lake.
