If you like lakes and you're in this part of California you can check out Loon Lake. You'll truly wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the fun stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Dry warm beds await you at Squaw Valley Lodge; a short tour to Mineral Springs is always worthwhile. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. You can run the rapids of American River - South Fork near Loon Lake.

| | is a splendid campground nearby, and lovely scenery and delightful skiing is what you get at Homewood. Near Loon Lake you find the Loon Lake Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail, as expected you could also have a look at Berts Lake while you're here; it's not far at all. That right there is a load already, but it continues; Loon Lake has it all. Going for a hike on the Poison Hole Trail is always a nice adventure; a quick tour to Ellis Creek is definitely a | |

This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Silver Creek - South Fork for all you adrenaline kick people, and Brown Mountain is clearly visible from Loon Lake. At Loon Lake through the warm months highs are in
the 80's. Summer night lows sink down to the 40's. Daytime highs all through the wintertime are in the 40's with temperatures at Loon Lake dipping down into the 20's all through winter nights. If you like the outdoors you'll like
it here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. If you came for an overnight stay Wentworth Springs Campground is a perfect site to camp; what would winter be without some skiing at Alpine Meadows.
The high level of rain makes Loon Lake
a quite wet location; January is the month that gets the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. If you need a spot to stay Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn is a brilliant choice; you can go for a hike on the McKinstry Trail.
