This lake is located in the wonderful Northern Sierra Nevada. A lake close by is Berts Lake; there's brilliant hiking along the Loon Lake Trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting things right next door to Loon Lake. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Loon Lake. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are regularly in       the 40's, and overnight lows during the winter for Loon Lake tend to be in the 20's. You believe that's enough? Just getting warmed up. If the weather is wonderful, you get a glorious sight of Brown Mountain from Loon Lake, and why not take a refreshing hike along the McKinstry Trail. Mineral Springs is always fun to check out, and the snow is perfect at Homewood. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada. Silver Creek - South Fork has                  a perfect whitewater paddling spot close by; the Poison Hole Trail offers hiking at its best. If you need a site to stay Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn is a tremendous choice, and you can stay the night at Wentworth Springs Campground. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Loon Lake has to offer, you can camp at Pleasant Boat-In Campground; if you get bored of Loon Lake you could also check out nearby Bugle Lake. But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Getting to Ellis Creek from Loon Lake is easy, and dry warm beds await you at Squaw Valley Lodge. Lots of precipitation falls at Loon Lake; throughout the month of January you get the most rain around here, and July is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful.
