Do stop by Long Lake while you're in this part of California. Long Lake is one of the lakes here in the Klamath Mountains. Go for a hike on the South Fork Cottonwood Trail, and Long Lake is a magnificent place to visit for more than one day, Tomhead Saddle Campground is a magnificent place to camp nearby. Through the warmest time of the year, highs ordinarily are in the 90's at Long Lake. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into

| | the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 40's; during the dark hours in the wintertime at Long Lake temperatures dip to the 30's.
From a precipitation point of view Long Lake is a rather typical location; January is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is July.
