Do go to Margaret Lake right next door to       Long Lake, it's a beautiful lake, and Devils Postpile National Monument is one of the destinations that are good to stop by nearby. Good hiking is available along the Kings River Trail. There's so much to do here at Long Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Willow Campground is a great location for that. If you go for the outdoors, you'll go for Long Lake. Go for a hike on the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section, and if the weather is delightful,                  you acquire a glorious vista of Chocolate Peak from Long Lake. All through the summer months at Long Lake temperatures are mostly in the 90's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's, and nighttime lows in the 20's for Long Lake. This lake is so wonderful. You'll really wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. After a long day outdoors Days Inn Bishop is a great spot to spend a night or two; while you're here, you might as well go to Bishop Pass. This lake is so wonderful.
