Loch Leven Lakes is one of the lakes here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Man, is there heaps of exciting things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Royal Gorge, and in case you don’t have a problem       getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Fordyce Creek. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the slopes at Soda Springs close by; the Salmon Lake Trail offers hiking at its best. You completely have to go for the Northern Sierra Nevada. If you came for an overnight stay Sterling Lake Campground is a good place to camp, and there's great hiking along the Loch Leven Trail. You think that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. While you're here at Loch                  Leven Lakes, you could also stop by lovely Salmon Lake; camping is available at Cold Springs Campground. Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn is a nice spot to get some rest. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Loch Leven Lakes; Cherry Point Trail is a pleasant local trail, and a nice location for whitewater paddling is Yuba River - South Fork. All the water falling down from the sky makes Loch Leven Lakes a wet spot; the month with most of the rain is January; the driest of the months is July.
