You'll need more than a day to explore everything Leighton Lake has to offer, you can camp at Baker Campground; the slopes of Dodge Ridge are so inviting nobody can resist. Leighton Lake sees pretty high levels of rain; through the month of January you get the most snow around here, and the driest of the months is July.
