During the long summer days at Lava Cap Reservoir highs are usually in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the period of the winter the highs are frequently in the 40's while Lava Cap Reservoir nighttime low temperatures throughout the wintertime are in the 20's. A pleasant place to camp here at Lava Cap Reservoir is Faucherie - Tahoe National Forest, and dry warm       beds await you at Piety Hill Cottages. The peak of Banner Mountain can be seen from Lava Cap Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. A golf course in close proximity to Lava Cap Reservoir is Nevada County Country Club, and Lava Cap Reservoir is a place with many visitors from Truckee-Grass Valley. You imagine that's sufficient? Just getting warmed up. Hiking along the South Yuba Trail is great fun, and Nevada City Inn is a splendid place to get some rest.                  This lake is so wonderful. You could also stop by Deer Creek Reservoir since you're here at Lava Cap Reservoir; it's close by, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Lafayette Ridge Trail. That right there is a load of enjoyable stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. Camping at Greenhorn Campground is always a nice experience, and you can have a perfect hiking adventure along the Humbug Trail. Be careful coming to the Northern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to go back home again. A lake nearby is Yuba Reservoir, and Yuba River - South Fork is a good whitewater spot close by. A quick journey to Clipper Creek in close proximity to Lava Cap Reservoir is a perfect idea, and in case you don’t mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Yuba River - South Fork. This lake is located in the wonderful Northern Sierra Nevada.
