    Beautiful The Lakes has much to offer visitors. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid location to camp here at The Lakes is Rocky Creek Campground. If you need a site to stay Valley Harvest Inn is a delightful choice, and you can go for a hike on the Marble Peak Trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Santa Lucia Range. Nearby lakes? Sure, Milpitas Reservoir is in the neighborhood of The Lakes, and why not camp at Miller's Lodge while you're here at  
   The Lakes.
The Lakes is a good site of normal rain; the month with most of the rain is January, and the driest month is July. During the summertime months, highs commonly are in the 70's at The Lakes. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 50's; winter nights come with lows in the 40's to The Lakes. After a long day outdoors Ventana Inn Big Sur is a pleasant location to spend a night or two, and you'll meet
 
               a lot of folks from Salinas here.
All the outdoors cool things in the Santa Lucia Range will keep you coming back repeatedly. Looking for something close to The Lakes? The Dry Lake is in the neighborhood; in the event that you don’t have a problem getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Arroyo Seco River. The Lakes is located in the Santa Lucia Range. This lake is so wonderful. Getting to Rocky Creek from The Lakes is uncomplicated, and don't leave The Lakes without first going for a hike along the Hot Springs Trail.
So many entertaining things to do at The Lakes, so little time. Arroyo Seco River is a glorious whitewater spot in close proximity to The Lakes; going for a hike on the Horse Pasture Trail is always a splendid adventure.

This is a view from the campground a few miles into the hike, I'm not sure what the camp ground was called but it was very pretty....
This is a bit of a scary but very beautiful section that comes a bit south of the lake....
This picture is taken a couple of miles into the hike after you've left the lake behind....
This is a shot from soon after you leave the dam behind, you can't see it in the picture but the trail kinda follows the right side of the lake....

DO NOT GO TO TIN HOUSE! IT IS A BACKCOUNTRY CAMP AND THE TRAIL IS IMPASSABLE!...The trail to Tin House is impassible....
