The beauty of Lake del Valle is reason enough to stop by. Soar down the rapids of Arroyo Hondo River in a kayak, and you are right next door to Heron Bay while you're here. Here at Lake del Valle there are plenty of people from San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara, and a wonderful close by hotel is Americas Best Value Inn. What a spot this is for outdoors people. After a long day outdoors Doubletree Club Livermore is a good site to spend a night or two.
