What a nice lake Lake Piru is. This lake is located in the wonderful Sierra Madre. And if that's not enough, there's a load more to do close to Lake Piru. If only every place had this much outdoors enjoyable stuff, what a great globe it would be. Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is one of the destinations near Lake Piru that are pleasant to go to, and a short visit to Juan Fernandez Spring is always worthwhile. | | you're here at Lake Piru, you could also have a look at striking Elderberry Lake. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Lake Piru has to offer, you can camp at Dominguez Campground. Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the Devil Canyon Trail; you'll meet a lot of people from Oxnard-Thousand Oaks-Ventura here. This lake is so wonderful. Trail is perfect fun. Now, you may think that's a load but there's even more cool things to do here in the Sierra Madre. Santa Felicia Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out; you can stay the night at Lake Piru. Lake
Piru is a location that is quite dried up generally; February is when you get the most rain here while July is commonly the driest month. At Lake Piru during the summertime months highs are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls
down to the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 40's with temperatures at Lake Piru dipping down into the 30's throughout winter nights. Days Inn Near Six Flags-Magic Mountain is a magnificent site
to get some rest, and you could always look at Blanchard Canyon. Do stop by Castaic Lagoon close to Lake Piru, it's a stunning lake, and if you need a place to stay Rodeway Inn Magic Mountain Area is a splendid choice. And if that's
not enough there's loads more exciting things to do in the Sierra Madre. Going for a hike along the Canton Canyon Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and Piru Creek has a fine whitewater paddling spot nearby.

Notice that a large rock appears to be loose and or without support. It looks like the rock is supporting the trail above. Someone should take a closer look at that rock. In heavy rain it could come down. It looks unstable.... |

 | 19 miles away I stopped by here because I noticed there was rock worth exploring for climbing, but when I approached the gate, it said the area was closed to the public. This seemed like a great place to visit, get some climbing in and then take a dip in the lake. If anyone has any further information about the closing, please post it.... |
