The beauty of Lake Paulina is reason enough to stop by. Lake Ming is a good lake next to Lake Paulina. Through the summertime highs here at Lake Paulina reach the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Lake Paulina are in the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. There are other locations here than Lake Paulina, for example Hart Park Lake, and a splendid
location for whitewater paddling is Kern River.
Camping is available at Bear Mountain RV Resort, and if you need a site to stay Holiday Inn Express Bakersfield, Ca is a delightful choice. Not much rainfall falls here at Lake Paulina; the month of February is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is July. If you came for an overnight stay Southland RV Park is a magnificent spot to camp; after a long day outdoors Vagabond Inn Bakersfield South is a nice spot to spend a night or two.

...ates are just wrong. Those coordinates would put you in the middle of some class VI rapids (IE unrunable) There are actually two putin locations.
1. LAT 35.439250 LON -118.802450 This put in is impossible to get to without trespassing. So you need special permission. It's located right below the Rio Bravo Hydroelectric Dam. This section is actually a class IV followed by two class V's. I've done the entire Kern, it's definitely V. You can only do this extra section during very high water years because the Power plant diverts most of the water along this stretch.
2. LAT 35.429084 LON 118.825602 Also, on private property with no public access. Only Search and Rescue, Kayak Olympic Team, and River's End Rafting have access to this putin. There is also a public access point on racheria rd. There is a little trail to get there just past the gated community gates. I believe there is still a sign. It's not a long hike. That point gives you 5 miles of very fun class II and III rapids, swimming areas, rope swings, etc. Be aware that many people have died along this section of the river...

Hi, please take a look at the attached photo.  I took it today in La Jolla Canyon, at the water fall (dry now).  Notice that a large rock appears to be loose and or without support.  It looks like the rock is supporting the trail above.  Someone should take a closer look at that rock.  In heavy rain it could come down.  It looks unstable....
