at Lake McKenzie. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Why not camp at Sanborn Park since you're here at Lake McKenzie, and you get a pleasant vista of The Peak from here.
This lake is located in the wonderful Santa Cruz Mountains. Lake McKenzie gets very little rainfall; the month with most of the rain is January, and the driest of the months is July. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Lake McKenzie; Sequoia Nature Trail is a fine local trail; unsurprisingly Aubry Creek flows through this area.
This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Lake Ranch Reservoir, and playing golf is lots of fun at Deep Cliff Golf Course. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend San Lorenzo River, and perfect hiking is available along the Summit Trail. So much exciting stuff to do here at Lake McKenzie, too wonderful to be true. A great site to pop by in the neighborhood of Lake McKenzie is Congress Springs Canyon; if you're looking for a tremendous spree, Juan Bautista De Anza National Historic Trail is rather near.
Get your heart beating on the great whitewater of San Lorenzo River; don't leave Lake McKenzie without first going for a hike along the Rincon Fire Road Trail.

...afters if it happens to be up when you go over. I don't know how high it inflates; not very, I think. After passing under the steel RR bridge (used by the tourist train from Roaring Camp to the Boardwalk), the river drops into a very scenic canyon with a good section of class III+ whitewater and one hole that flipped our standard-floor raft, in the granite gorge before the Rincon, where the river bends to the left to go around a hogsback ridge. The Rincon (Spanish for bend in the river), a pretty place to pull out for a picnic and some hiking, is part of Henry Cowell State Park and is the last chance to exit easily on public property before Santa Cruz. An old road goes up to a large parking area on Hwy 9 here.

Approaching the Rincon the river spreads out and may be too shallow to float; we had to walk a short distance. Also, at the remains of a concrete diversion dam, teh river splits into two channels. The left-most is the one to take as the right will leave you high and not-quite-dry, though I suppose this may change from year to year.
