Now, you may believe that's a load but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Johnston Lake. Hiking along the Sherwin Lakes Trail is brilliant fun, and there are other places here than Johnston Lake, for example Trinity Lakes. Life's too short to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada. Take a hike on the Mammoth Rock Trail; whitewater paddling is tremendous on Mono Creek. Take a little journey to Minaret Creek while you're here
at Johnston Lake, and do put some time aside to spend at Minaret Falls since you're here at Johnston Lake.
Johnston Lake is a good place of normal precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; the driest of the months is June. There's so much to do here at Johnston Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Minaret Falls Campground is a brilliant site for that, and Johnston Meadow is a perfect spot to check out. This

lake is so wonderful. If you don’t have a problem getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on San Joaquin River - Middle Fork, and after a long day outdoors Snowbird Condos at Mammoths Canyon Lodge is a magnificent place to spend a night or two.
Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this site. Johnston Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Reds Meadow Campground is a great local campground. Why not take a refreshing hike along the John Muir Trail - section 2, and Mammoth Mountain Inn is a brilliant place to get some rest. Summertime highs at Johnston Lake mostly tend to be in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Johnston Lake.
This lake is located in the wonderful Central Sierra Nevada. This lake is so wonderful. You need to stop by Devils Postpile while you're here at Johnston Lake, and beautiful scenery and splendid skiing is what you get at June Mountain. So much fun stuff in the Central Sierra Nevada, just tremendous. Skiing at Mammoth Mountain is one of those things you just should do. Lakes? Sure, Lost Dog Lake is in the vicinity.
