Go for a hike on the Grouse Creek Tractor Trail, and a lake nearby is Blue Lake. Having a perfect time at Jarnigan Pond is painless. If you came for an overnight stay Lazy Double B Park is a good location to camp, and glide down the rapids of Van Duzen River in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. There are good locations to look at along the Grouse Creek Tractor       Way, and Redcrest Motor Inn Resort is a magnificent local campground. The panorama of Iaqua Buttes from Jarnigan Pond is picturesque; paddling on Mad River is so much fun. Jarnigan Pond is located in the Coast Ranges. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Arcata is a wonderful location to spend a night or two, of course you could also have a look at Lake Prairie since you're here; it's not far at all.
