Young America Lake
1 PHOTO
I fished this lake a couple of years ago, after a long hard hike through roocks and brush from Upper Sardine Lake, I found the lake FULL of stunted Brook trout, the Golden Trout may have all died out due to someone planting these brookies into the lake, probably an air drop by a lost fish and game dept. airplane. The hike in and out feom below is miserable and hazardous, from the upper trail, it might be better. The photo here is from above. All in all it was a huge disappointment as far as the trout were concerned!...
Small glacial Lake or tarn. Rockbound; located on the north side and in the shadow of the Sierra Buttes in a spectacular setting. Frozen much of the year. Route in is cross country - no formal trail. Stocked with golden trout....

Sierra Skies RV Park
We do not provide camping sites - only rv/trailer/van hookup sites.  The use of our restroom/laundry facility is exclusively for our guests....

Sand Pond
It would be nice to know if Sand Pond is open for swimming. I know a few years ago it was closed due to some water problems....

Wild Plum Campground
10 miles away
Wild Plum is an excellent place to camp for all ages. Most camp spots are right next to a beautiful rushing river and there is a small lake and waterfall (seasonal) within a 10 minute walk across the river. The lake is deep enough for cliff jumping!! Bathrooms are available, though they are like most campground bathrooms (non flushing). Black Bears come around now and again, but they're really no problem at all. Beautiful hiking! I love this place...

Weaver lake Campground
13 miles away
Road not maintained by USFS, very rough. No maintained campsites or facilities; only 1 level spot. Tried fishing for three days, not one bite.  Not recommended...No maintained campground; Forest Service does not maintain roads or sites; poor roads; poor fishing....

Faucherie Lake
17 miles away
This lake is a long drive and there are 9 other nice lakes on the road to Faucherie. Very windy and rugged country, the fishing is tough but persistence pays. Used to be private and secluded, but now is very populated and has lost it's private feel. I recomending hiking 5 miles up the canyon to the next lake to get away from the citidits....The place is ridden with Mosquitos, Wasps, and Bears.  The wind always picks up and blows through the group site, and makes most activities miserable.  The drive up is NOT worth it.  Avoid the group site.  There are tons of sites down the dirt road along the creek which offer better protection from the wind.  Best to camp someplace closer to civilization.  The drive is not worth it...

Fuller Lake Campground
19 miles away
NID has never allowed swimming in Fuller Lake....Sorry - there is only a Day Use area at Fuller Lake. There hasn't been camping on that lake for nearly 11 years. While the fishing is great, you can't stay there after the sun sets. And there is limited fire material for making BBQ fires. better to go further up Bowman Road....I drove up there today (8/10/06), and there is only a day use only area....
