Stay the night at Carr-Feeley Campground; if you're here you can take a hike along the Bowman Mountain Trail. You get a delightful vista of Bowman Mountain from Island Lake, and do take a hike on the Crooked Lakes Trail. Throughout the warm months here at Island Lake, high temperatures ordinarily reach the 90's. Summer overnight lows dip down to the 40's. Highs through the wintertime are ordinarily       in the 40's, and night lows during the winter for Island Lake tend to be in the 20's. If you go for the outdoors, you'll like Island Lake. Soar down the rapids of Yuba River - South Fork in a kayak, and if you're popping by from Truckee-Grass Valley, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. You're almost certainly into lakes, Long Lake is one of those close by, and stunning scenery and tremendous skiing is what you get at Soda Springs. This lake is so                  wonderful. A pleasant close by hotel is Deer Creek Inn; if you've had enough of Island Lake, Hidden Lake is nearby. All the outdoors cool stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada will keep you coming back repeatedly. Have a glorious hiking adventure along the Round Lake Trail, and paddling on Fordyce Creek is so much fun. An average amount of precipitation falls at Island Lake; January is when you get the most rain here; July on the other hand is the driest. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Northern Sierra Nevada.
