Whitewater paddling is great on Fordyce Creek, and camping at Grouse Ridge Campground is always a good experience. So many enjoyable things in the Northern Sierra Nevada, just incredible. Near Island Lake you come across the Round Lake Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail; camping is available at Carr-Feeley Campground. Here at Island Lake you can see Bowman Mountain; you're possibly keen on lakes, Long Lake is       one of those nearby. All through the warm months at Island Lake highs are regularly in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 40's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Island Lake temperatures descend to the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Royal Gorge is close to Island Lake, and get drenched paddling on Yuba River - South Fork.                  If you want a splendid time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Island Lake. Going for a hike on the Bowman Mountain Trail is always a delightful adventure, and if you've had enough of Island Lake, Hidden Lake is close by. Island Lake is a beautiful lake in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada. The Crooked Lakes Trail is a good hiking trail right next door to Island Lake; Soda Springs is a fine local ski area. Island Lake gets a typical amount of annual precipitation; the month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and July meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.
