Now, you may imagine that's a lot but there's even more fun things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. China Flat is right here at Island Lake, and there are fine spots to discover along the Highland Trail. And if that's not enough there's plenty more enjoyable things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Blue Mountain is uncomplicated       to spot from Island Lake, and if you came to camp Thirty-nine Mile Campground is a great location to do that. High temperatures at Island Lake during the warmest time of the year are in the 70's with night lows in the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are regularly in the 40's while the cold winter nights at Island Lake are in the 10's. There are plenty of folks from Gardnerville Ranchos here at Island Lake, and Homewood is a great local ski area.                  This lake is so wonderful. The skiing at Sierra at Tahoe is tremendous, and in the event that you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on American River - South Fork. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors enjoyable stuff the area close to Island Lake has to offer. There is a brilliant hiking trail near Island Lake called the Windmiller Trail, and if you need a location to stay The Meadow is a wonderful choice. And that's not all you can do here at Island Lake. You'll find a pretty lake called Twin Lakes near Island Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Silver Creek - South Fork has a good whitewater paddling spot nearby. There's so much to do here at Island Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Pyramid Campground is a pleasant location for that. Island Lake gets a typical amount of precipitation; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow while July is regularly the driest month. Island Lake is one of the lakes here in the Northern Sierra Nevada.
