Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Eel River - Middle Fork, and a great nearby hotel is Super 8 Willits. This is no site for people who don’t like to have a good time. If you get bored of Howard Lake, you could also check out nearby Cherry Lake. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Howard Lake has to offer, you can camp at Boardman Ridge Campground. Having a wonderful time in       the Klamath Mountains is trouble-free. If you come at the right time of year, Black Butte River offers some brilliant whitewater, and the Smoke Howe Trail is a brilliant hiking trail nearby. Through the warm days of summer highs here at Howard Lake reach the 90's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Howard Lake are in the 30's. Near Howard Lake you hit                  upon the French Trail which is a delightful hiking trail, and you can stay the night at Little Doe Campground. Howard Lake is a beautiful lake in the Klamath Mountains. The high level of rainfall makes Howard Lake a relatively wet place; January is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is July. But wait, there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Klamath Mountains. Howard Lake is not the only site nearby, Hammerhorn Lake is a nearby lake.
