A scenic lake like Lower Lola Montez Lake next to Hole-In-Ground is a wonderful location to go to; paddling on Yuba River - South Fork is so much fun. This lake is so wonderful. The summit of Buzzard Roost can be distinguished from Hole-In-Ground, and there's       great hiking along the Glacier Lakes Trail. For the period of the long summer days highs here at Hole-In-Ground reach the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Hole-In-Ground temperatures sink to the 20's. A pleasant nearby hotel is Holiday Inn Express Truckee, Ca, and Soda Springs is a magnificent local ski area. Don't                  leave Hole-In-Ground without first going for a hike along the Lola Montez Trail. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Van Norden Campground is a splendid site to camp, and needless to say Lower Castle Creek flows through this area. All the water falling down from the sky makes Hole-In-Ground a wet place; January is when you get the most rain here while July is mostly the driest month. So many entertaining things to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada, not sufficient time. Cold Springs Campground is a brilliant campground nearby, and you'll come across a picturesque lake called Upper Lola Montez Lake. What a spot this is for outdoors folks. The Warren Lake Trail offers hiking at its best, and the slopes of Boreal are so inviting nobody can resist.
