If you come at the right time of year, Sacramento River offers some good whitewater, and why not take a little visit to Baker Creek while you're here. Why not camp at Gumboat Campground while you're here at Highland Lakes; if you're here at Highland Lakes it's a great idea to have a look at Baker Hollow. Dunsmuir Travelodge. Highland Lakes really is in the middle of a delightful outdoors paradise. Pollard Flat Campground is a wonderful local campground, and soar down the rapids of Trinity River - East Fork in a kayak. This lake
is so wonderful. From Highland Lakes you get a glorious sight of Whisky Bill Peak, and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is a good national park. Go for a hike on the Sisson Calahan National Recreation Trail; while you're here, you could also pop by delightful Twin Lakes.
