Why not camp at Gumboat Campground while you're here at Highland Lakes; if you're here at Highland Lakes it's a great idea to have a look at Baker Hollow. Going for a hike on the Echo Lake Trail is always a good adventure. Around Highland Lakes you don’t get a lot of precipitation; the wettest month of the year       is mostly December, that's the one that rains the most while July is regularly the driest month. For the duration of the warmest time of the year at Highland Lakes highs are usually in the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 40's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Highland Lakes. Do take a look at Pond Lily Lake next to Highland Lakes, it's a lovely lake, and after a long day                  outdoors Best Western Tree House Motor Inn is a tremendous site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Don't leave Highland Lakes without first going for a hike along the Castle Lake Trail; dry warm beds await you at Dunsmuir Travelodge. Highland Lakes really is in the middle of a delightful outdoors paradise. Pollard Flat Campground is a wonderful local campground, and soar down the rapids of Trinity River - East Fork in a kayak. This lake is so wonderful. From Highland Lakes you get a glorious sight of Whisky Bill Peak, and Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is a good national park.
