Not much rain falls here at Heenan Lake; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain, and July is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Carson River - East Fork is so much fun, and if you came to camp Centerville Flat Campground is a wonderful spot to do that. While you're here at Heenan Lake you can take a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 13, and Heenan Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, Carson River Resort is a perfect local campground. Summertime highs at Heenan Lake mostly tend to be in the 80's, and the overnight is a tad chillier of course, ordinarily in the 50's.  | Roundtrip Distance 12.7 miles Elevation Gain 2,867 ft. This peak is trailless, meaning a portion or all of the route up the mountain is via an unmarked trail. For this particular mountain, the typical route is known as a ''herd path'' which is not much more than a worn, but unmarked trail. Some of the herd paths are easy to follow, others are not. In many instances the hiker will travel down a false herd path and eventually have to correct his/her course via backtracking. For these particular mountains, it is imperative that the hiker carry a compass (and know how to use it) and topographic map.... |

 | 16 miles away The Clark Fork Campground has a number of nice sites. Most of the campers have trailers or RVs. The campground has pit toilets that are clean and relatively pleasant. There is a shower facility--bring plenty of quarters for your shower. The fishing in the Clark Fork River is good. The Forest Service plants trout every week. There are plenty of nice side creeks such as Cloudburst and Arnot that are good fishing too. The hike up the trail along the upper Clark Fork to the waterfall is a very nice hike. You will enjoy Clark Fork campground. My family for three generations and over 50 years has been camping here.... |
