For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 40's. Throughout the wintertime highs are regularly in the 40's with temperatures at Heather Lake dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. Man, is there loads of cool stuff to do close to Heather Lake. While you're here at Heather Lake you can take a hike along the General Creek Trail, and dry warm beds       await you at Pine Cone Acre Motel. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Heather Lake; through January this area sees the most snow, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Lake Le Conte is close by. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Heather Lake has to offer, you can camp at Sayles Flat Campground. Skiing at Homewood is one of those things you just must do, and there are other places here than                  Heather Lake, for example Susie Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A magnificent beach near Heather Lake is Baldwin Beach, and the vista of gorgeous Cracked Crag is splendid. Heather Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Lovers Leap Campground is a great location to camp nearby, and there is a glorious hiking trail close by called the Red Peak Trail. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors entertaining things the Northern Sierra Nevada has to offer. You're sure to bump into some great folks from Gardnerville Ranchos here. Whitewater paddling is good on American River - South Fork, and if you need a site to stay Pistantes Coyote Den is a splendid choice. Whohoo, so much fun stuff in one place! The Northern Sierra Nevada is peerless! On a perfect day at Heather Lake you can take a hike along the Windmiller Trail; paddling on Silver Creek - South Fork is so much fun. Now, you may imagine that's lots but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Very beautiful scenery and nice skiing is what you get at Sierra at Tahoe; while you're here, you might as well take a look at Dicks Pass. If only every place had this much outdoors exciting things, what a great earth it would be. Desolation Valley is a charming site any time of year, and beaches are glorious and Kiva Beach is no exception.
