If only every spot had this much outdoors cool things, what a great planet it would be. No need to travel far to go to interesting stuff like Kearsarge Pinnacles, and nearby you find the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section which is a splendid hiking trail. Throughout the warm days of summer, highs typically are in the 90's at Heart Lake. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. High temperatures       through the winter are normally in the 50's with temperatures at Heart Lake dipping down into the 20's through winter nights. There's so much to do here at Heart Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Symmes Creek Campground is a wonderful spot for that; Kearsarge Pass is a great spot to spend some time. This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Around Heart Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; January is when                  you get the most rain here, and June is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. There is a delightful hiking trail in close proximity to Heart Lake called the Mount Whitney Trail, needless to say you could also check out Bench Lake since you're here; it's not far at all. Now, you may feel that's a load but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. On a fine day at Heart Lake you can take a hike along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11, and Heart Lake is pleasant enough to spend more than a day at, Fort Independence Campground is a pleasant local campground.
