While you're here at Hammerhorn Lake it's a nice idea to stop at Barney Meadow; you can go for a hike on the French Trail. Hammerhorn Lake is a good place of normal rainfall; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most rain; the driest month is July. These mountains rock, just look at all the entertaining stuff to do in the Klamath Mountains. You're       almost certainly hooked on lakes, Howard Lake is one of those close by, and you can stay the night at Little Doe Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Float down the rapids of Black Butte River in a kayak. Lakes are good; Dewell Lake is a lake that's in the vicinity of Hammerhorn Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Throughout the summer months highs here at Hammerhorn Lake get into the 90's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the                  50's. For the period of the wintertime highs are frequently in the 50's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Hammerhorn Lake descend into the 30's. If you come at the right time of year, Eel River - Middle Fork offers some nice whitewater, and going for a hike on the Smoke Howe Trail is always a tremendous adventure. If you want a perfect time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Klamath Mountains. After a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Willits is a pleasant spot to spend a night or two; don't leave Hammerhorn Lake without first going for a hike along the Soldier Trail. Hammerhorn Campground is a fine campground nearby, and some of the water close by flows, like Beaver Creek.
