Whitewater paddling is great on Sacramento River; you'll find a wonderful lake called Twin Lakes. Around Grey Rock Lake you don’t get a lot of precipitation; during December this area sees the most rain, and the driest month of the year is July. This lake is so wonderful. Mount Shasta is a tremendous local ski area, and if you came to       camp Best In The West Resort is a nice spot to do that. The summit of Grey Rocks can be spotted from Grey Rock Lake; if you have time, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area is a national park worth going to. High temperatures at Grey Rock Lake through the summertime months are in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's, and winter nights come with lows in the 20's to Grey Rock                  Lake. You assume that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Sacramento River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby, and there is a delightful hiking trail close by called the Echo Lake Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Grey Rock Lake is nice enough to spend more than a day at, Sims Flat Campground is a nice local campground, and close by you find the Castle Lake Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail.
