There's no way someone can get bored here in the Central Sierra Nevada. A good nearby hotel is Super 8 Bishop, and the top of Mount Lamarck is easily observed from Granite Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Not far from Granite Lake, you'll hit upon Upper Lamarck Lake which is a gorgeous lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Sabrina Campground is a great site to camp. Just can't get enough of Granite Lake. If you need a place to stay Days Inn Bishop is a

Darwin Creek is a stream that you may run into while you're here, and close by you hit upon the Kings River Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail. Granite Lake is typically a pretty arid location; January is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is June. Lakes are good; Fishgut | |

Lakes is a lake that's right next door to Granite Lake, and going for a hike on the John Muir Trail - Pacific Crest Section is always a delightful adventure. Granite Lake is a beautiful lake in the Central Sierra Nevada. Summertime
at Granite Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 90's; the night is somewhat cooler of course, mostly in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 50's while the cold winter nights at Granite Lake are in
the 20's. Don't miss out on a trip to Devils Postpile National Monument while you're here at Granite Lake, and since you're here why not explore Lamarck Col. This lake is so wonderful. Camping is available at North Lake Campground;
in case you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on San Joaquin River - South Fork.

Sabrina Campground
 | I have such fond memories of family trips to Sabrina and camping just up from the lake on the stream side. Don't know what the campground name was or even if it had a name back in thoes days. It was every summer in 1960's. First went there when I was a baby. My parents packed back in several times. Anyway, my Dad died a few months ago and he always said he wanted to go back before he died. I like to think that he is there somewhere fishing that stream by the campground that we all loved so much. Fond Fond memories.... |
Big Trees Campground
 | The only way to drop a kayak in Kings river is a very long drive (maybe 4-5 hours) to the west side or the range, or lugging it through the wilderness (over the spine). I think I would have to give a gold medal to anyone who would lug a kayak from Big Trees to Kings river. Just a heads-up.... |
