Granite Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable stuff in the Northern Sierra Nevada. Granite Lake is not the only spot close by, Oyster Lake is a close by lake, and while you're here at Granite Lake, checking out Machado Postpiles is a must. The Northern Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful. Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a perfect time here at Granite Lake. Stay the night at
Plasse's Resort, and Kirkwood is a perfect local ski area.
Granite Lake is a good location to visit for more than one day, Ferguson Point Campground is a good location to camp nearby, and the Hawley Grade Trail is a nice hiking trail nearby. All year is a nice time in the Northern Sierra Nevada if you like the outdoors. If you get bored of Granite Lake, you could also have a look at nearby Silver Lake; American River - South Fork has a magnificent whitewater

paddling spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. A good close by hotel is Pine Cone Acre Motel, and the slopes of Sierra at Tahoe are so inviting nobody can resist.
Going for a hike on the Windmiller Trail is always a good adventure; there is a splendid hiking trail nearby called the Emigrant Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Harvest Inn-St Helena, Napa Valley is a great spot to get some rest, and in case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Mokelumne River - North Fork. The high level of rain makes Granite Lake a reasonably wet spot; throughout January this area sees the most snow while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Now, you may feel that's a lot but there's even more entertaining stuff to do here at Granite Lake. All through the summertime months, highs typically are in the 70's at Granite Lake. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Granite Lake. From Granite Lake you get a great vista of Thunder Mountain; taking a little journey to close by Ferguson Point is a perfect idea.
