Camping at Gookins Dry Lake is great fun, Atmore Meadows Campground is a great local campground, and going for a hike on the Burnt Peak Trail is always a nice adventure. This lake is so wonderful. In the event that you don't mind getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Piru Creek; Cow Spring Canyon is close by, and is a great place. Gookins Dry Lake is pretty dried up mostly; during       the month of February you get the most rain around here, and July is when it's the driest.
