A tremendous place for whitewater paddling right next door to Golden Lake is Stanislaus River - Middle Fork; Golden Lake is right by the Pacific Crest Trail - section 13. This lake is so wonderful. If you       don’t have a problem getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Carson River - East Fork, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Dodge Ridge while you're here. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a site to stay Super 8 Gardnerville is a brilliant choice, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Silver King Trail. One of the dominant marks of the surroundings of Golden Lake is Disaster Peak. Take a hike on the                  Corral Valley Trail, and a great nearby hotel is Best Western Topaz Lake Inn. For the period of the summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Golden Lake with nighttime lows in the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 40's, and nighttime lows at Golden Lake all through the winter regularly drop into the 20's. So much entertaining stuff close to Golden Lake, absolutely phenomenal. Camping is available at Sand Flat Campground; needless to say Boulder Creek is a charming stream that is worth taking a look at. These mountains rock, just look at all the entertaining stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. While you're here at Golden Lake it's a good idea to pop by Coyote Meadow; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at nearby Bull Lake. At Golden Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month with most of the rain is January while July is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
