During the months of summer at Glacier Lake temperatures are usually in the 70's; the night is a tad colder of course, frequently in the 50's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 40's while Glacier Lake night low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 20's. This lake is so wonderful. All our national parks are glorious places to stop at, and Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Park is no exception; there are some brilliant whitewater
spots on Kern River. This lake is so wonderful. Take a hike on the High Sierra Trail; Nine Lake Basin is a delightful location any time of year.
Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Kaweah River - Middle Fork, and Cold Spring Campground is a great local campground. Glacier Lake is right by the Sawtooth Pass Trail, and Atwell Mill Campground is a good campground nearby. The yearly precipitation here at Glacier Lake is

about average; the month with most of the rain is January, and July on the other hand is the driest.
You simply have to like Glacier Lake. Triple Divide Peak is lovely and can be made out from Glacier Lake, and if you've had enough of Glacier Lake, Tamarack Lake is nearby. And if that's not enough there's a lot more fun stuff to do in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Glacier Lake is not the only place close by, Lion Lake is a close by lake; you simply have to have a look at Lilliput Glacier if you're here at Glacier Lake.
Now, you may feel that's a lot but there's even more amusing stuff to do here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. Hiking along the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11 is magnificent fun, and nearby you come across Copper Mine Pass which is a delightful place to explore. This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Sierra Nevada.

Moose Lake
This is a picture I took of Moose Lake on a lengthy loop hike in the Sequoias taking the Lakes trail past Heather, Astor, Emerald, and Pear Lakes; then cross country over the divide above Moose Lake where I took this photograph looking down on the lake. I then returned to the trailhead by going southwest over the divide down to the Alta Trail through Panther Gap back to the Lakes trailhead. A very long day hike. I took pictures along the entire route....

Leavis Flat - Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park
15 miles away
Leavis Flat- I loved it! Small campground, right next to Deer Creek, only 9 sites. You can buy ice and extra necessities just up the road at the California Hot Springs (resort?) No cell phone service, ranger comes by once a day, it's very mellow. You are roughing it unless you bring an RV. No showers or flush toilets. So beautiful. We were there for Memorial Wknd. Some locals said it's usually pretty empty but the campground was full for our trip. I've heard they might shut it down. Maybe it's not bringing in enough cash for the upkeep. I bathed in the creek. My boyfriend wasn't so brave, too cold for him. If you're planning on doing the sights at the Sequoia National Park, it's a two hour drive to Morro Rock to give you an idea. The creek is so pretty and the water is drinkable, not deep enough to swim but perfect to cool off. The mosquitoes weren't too bad and with the right company, it's the perfect setting to get totally away! My boyfriend has all the pics on his phone, but I'll come back and post them....
