     Throughout the summer months at Gem Lake highs are ordinarily in the 60's while nighttime lows are commonly in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows at Gem Lake through the winter regularly drop into the 10's. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the Central Sierra Nevada. Why not explore nearby Buck Meadow Creek while you're here at Gem Lake, and spots like Spring  
   Meadow are splendid to go to. Dry warm beds await you at Americas Best Value Inn Yosemite Westgate Lodge; Gem Lake is a good spot to visit for more than one day, Baker Campground is a good spot to camp nearby.
That right there is lots of cool stuff already but it goes on, the Central Sierra Nevada has it all. At Leighton Dam close to Gem Lake there are some exciting things to see; if you get bored of Gem Lake you could also stop at close by Leopold Lake.
 
               Life's too short to enjoy all the fun things in the neighborhood of Gem Lake. You can run the rapids of Cherry Creek - West Fork close to Gem Lake, and Deadman Campground is a fine campground nearby. Gem Lake is a wet place that gets lots of rain; during the month of January you get the most snow around here, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
Jewelry Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out; a fine place is Post Corral Canyon. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. A good location for whitewater paddling near Gem Lake is Stanislaus River - Middle Fork, and Dodge Ridge is a very popular ski area in close proximity.
The Central Sierra Nevada scenery is always beautiful.
