     A stunning lake like Garfield Reservoirs in close proximity to Garvey Reservoir is a tremendous spot to stop by; after a long day outdoors Best Western Markland Hotel is a pleasant place to spend a night or two. Garvey Reservoir is right by the Winter Creek Trail; if you're here you will meet lots of people from nearby Los Angeles-Long Beach-Santa Ana. If you want to play some golf, you're in luck because Montebello City Golf Course is in the neighborhood,  
   and dry warm beds await you at Comfort Inn Monterey Park. This lake is so wonderful. The views at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area will blow your mind, and Garvey Reservoir is a great site to visit for more than one day, Bicentennial Park Campground is a great site to camp nearby.
Summer at Garvey Reservoir comes with high temperatures in the 80's while night lows are generally in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the
 
               60's, and night lows in the 40's for Garvey Reservoir. If only every spot had this much outdoors cool things, what a great globe it would be. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Idlehour Trail, and skiing at Mt Waterman is one of those things you just must do. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Garvey Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Del Rio Mobile Home and RV Park; lakes are such serene places, why not have a look at Whittier Narrows Reservoir.
This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Garvey Reservoir; Mount Wilson Trail is a pleasant local trail; on a beautiful day you acquire a wonderful view of Montebello Hills from Garvey Reservoir. Garvey Reservoir is typically a rather dried out place; through the month of February you get the most rain around here, and July is when it's the driest.

Mount Wilson Trail
We hiked this trail on 9/8/07. Total r/t miles were 14 from trailhead to summit of Mt. Wilson. This was a very strenuous day hike. Lots of switchbacks (some great than 45 degrees) with plenty of outlook points to view all the way from downtown LA to OC. Trail conditions were somewhat shaded however, plenty exposure to hot sun in morning and afternoon. Bring lots of water (refill water avail. at top)....

Hi, please take a look at the attached photo.  I took it today in La Jolla Canyon, at the water fall (dry now).  Notice that a large rock appears to be loose and or without support.  It looks like the rock is supporting the trail above.  Someone should take a closer look at that rock.  In heavy rain it could come down.  It looks unstable....
