This lake is located in the wonderful Southern Sierra Nevada. There are some good whitewater spots on Kern River, and a pleasant tour to Milestone Bowl is a delightful way to spend an afternoon. Go for a hike on the Pacific Crest Trail - section 11; after a long day outdoors Western Holiday Lodge Three Rivers is a pleasant location to spend a night or two. If only every location had this much outdoors       exciting things, what a great world it would be. Don't leave Gallats Lake without first going for a hike along the High Sierra Trail. There's no way anybody can get bored here in the Southern Sierra Nevada. There's so much to do here at Gallats Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Atwell Mill Campground is a fine site for that, and there are magnificent sites to discover along the Sawtooth Pass Trail. This lake is so wonderful. You'll need more than a                  day to explore everything Gallats Lake has to offer, you can camp at Cold Spring Campground, and you can spot Picket Guard Peak from Gallats Lake. Summertime at Gallats Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 70's; the night is fairly cooler of course, typically in the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 40's, and night lows at Gallats Lake all through the wintertime typically plunge into the 20's.
