You truly have to fancy the Coast Ranges. There are great places to explore along the Ben Arthur Trail, and the panorama of Kettenpom Peak is striking. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at French Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Fir Cove Campground is a great site for that, and don't leave French Lake without first going for a hike along the Ruth Hayfork Trail. Go for a hike on the Ben       Duncan Mailbox Trail; Van Duzen River has a wonderful whitewater paddling spot nearby. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this location. Whitewater paddling is fine on Eel River, and if you're here, you could also stop by beautiful Bollman Lake. If you came to camp Bailey Canyon Campground is a great place to do that, and if you need a location to stay Best Western Humboldt House Inn is a tremendous choice. French Lake gets lots of water; January is the month                  that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is July. Man, is there a heap of exciting things to do in the Coast Ranges. The Coast Ranges scenery is always beautiful. High temperatures at French Lake during the warm days of summer are in the 80's with night lows in the 50's.
