Lots of rain falls at Francis Lake; January is the month that gets the most rain, and July on the other hand is the driest. There's whitewater on Silver Creek - South Fork for all you adrenaline junkies, and you'll stumble on a beautiful lake called Bugle Lake. Be careful coming to the Northern Sierra Nevada, you might not ever want to go home again. Alpine Meadows is a       very popular ski area nearby, and the top of Chipmunk Bluff is easily distinguished from Francis Lake. All through the summer months at Francis Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. Through the winter the highs are ordinarily in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Francis Lake. A pretty lake like Berts Lake right next door to Francis Lake is a delightful place to visit. There's so much to                  do here at Francis Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Wentworth Springs Campground is a glorious location for that. Francis Lake is located in the Northern Sierra Nevada. After a long day outdoors Plumpjack Squaw Valley Inn is a pleasant location to spend a night or two, and why not visit nearby Jerrett Creek if you're here at Francis Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Homewood, and you can go for a hike on the McKinstry Trail. That right there is a heap of exciting stuff already but it goes on, the Northern Sierra Nevada has it all. Neck Meadow is a great spot to stretch your legs a bit, and going for a hike on the Loon Lake Trail is always a great adventure. That right there is plenty already, but it keeps on going; Francis Lake has it all. There is a great hiking trail near Francis Lake called the Poison Hole Trail. This lake is so wonderful. A splendid nearby hotel is Squaw Valley Lodge; a journey to Francis Lake wouldn't be complete without taking a look at Mineral Springs. And that's not all you can do here at Francis Lake.
