There's so much to do here at Fourth of July Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Caples Lake Campground is a wonderful place for that, and you can run the rapids of American River - South Fork. Fourth of July Lake frequently gets a good deal of rainfall; most of the snow falls throughout January; the driest of the months is July. After a long day outdoors Pine Cone Acre Motel is a great location to spend a night or two, and there is a brilliant hiking trail close by called the Hawley Grade Trail. a lot of people from Gardnerville Ranchos here, and you'll never forgive yourself if you don’t go skiing at Kirkwood since you're here. If you get bored of Fourth of July Lake, you could also explore close by Corrie Lochan, and Fourth
of July Lake is not the only place close by, Round Top Lake is a close by lake. You can never get enough of the wonderful skiing at Bear Valley; dry warm beds await you at Harvest Inn-St Helena, Napa Valley. High temperatures
at Fourth of July Lake all through the months of summer are in the 70's with overnight lows in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Fourth of July Lake dipping down into the 10's
through winter nights. And if that's not enough there's loads more fun stuff to do in the Northern Sierra Nevada. If you yearn for a little side spree, try Horse Canyon; nearby you hit upon the Charity Valley Trail which is a brilliant hiking trail.
