Forest Lake is always a pleasure to visit. Forest Lake is located in the Southern Cascade Range. This lake is so wonderful. There's good hiking along the Heart Lake Twin Meadows Trail; dry warm beds await you at Bailey Creek Cottages. Lakes are such peaceful places, why not stop by Huckleberry Lake close to Forest Lake; there's some flowing water close by, East Sulphur Creek is a stream you can check out while you're here.
Forest Lake is a rather wet place

frequently with lots of rainfall; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most rain; the driest month is July. There are other sites here than Forest Lake, for example Ridge Lakes, and the views at Lassen Volcanic National Park will blow your mind. So many cool things to do at Forest Lake, so little time. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Forest Lake has to offer, you can camp at Bluff Falls Campground, and the summit of Brokeoff
Mountain can be made out from Forest Lake.
And if that's not enough there's plenty more entertaining things to do in the Southern Cascade Range. There are magnificent places to look at along the Hanna Trail, and Glassburner Meadows is a good location to check out. At Forest Lake through the warm months highs are in the 90's while nighttime lows are typically in the 60's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 50's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Forest Lake temperatures plunge to the 30's. This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Forest Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Kings Creek Campground is a tremendous place for that.
Now, you may feel that's lots but there's even more fun stuff to do here in the Southern Cascade Range. Bluff Falls is a splendid local attraction, and don't leave Forest Lake without first going for a hike along the Growler Trail.

Heart Lake Twin Meadows Trail
Twin Meadows was originally named White Meadows and our old family cabin is the one between the meadows. They ran cattle with T.A.Spencer the first pres. of the Tehama Co. Cattleman's Assoc. The forming of the first association was in response to the loss of grazing rights when the park was formed. The shortage of beef during WW1 prompted Woodrow Wilson to state that if necessary they would raise sheep on the lawn of the White House. ...

Hole in the Ground Campground
3 PHOTOS
I ALSO HAVE GONE CAMPING AT HOLE IN THE GROUND SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL I WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY I LOVE IT THERE AND NOW SO DO MY KIDS....
I've been going to hole in the ground, off and on for 40 years. From when I was a kid hiking in the forest, tubing down the creek, swimming in the pools, and fishing for planted trout that the hatchery would toss in the creek. Now it is a restricted salmon run, there is no planters and restrictions on the type of tackle you can use. The fishing was great as a kid. I like how peaceful it is, with the sound of creek and an occasional bluejay chirping. I enjoy cooking on the wood stoves. There are only a hand full left, (what a shame). I will be meeting one of my brothers and dad at the hole in three weeks. My large family with foster children love going to the hole. Some have been before and some will experience it for the first time. **lot of good memories**...

Potato Patch Campground
13 miles away
We camp at Potato Patch campground annually with several other families. It is a very nice campground on a beautiful river. There is not a lot to do nearby though and it is a primitive campground with pit toilets and no showers. There are no hookups for RVs, but we tent camp anyway. We mostly play by the river (very cold water). Our attraction is the beauty and the people we camp with. We used to fish, but it is all catch and release. I can definitely recommend it but you have to be looking for a relaxing and beautiful setting and mostly doing not much of anything.

...nother attraction to this area is the Thousand Lake Wilderness area, hiking and beautiful scenery are part of the experience in this remote wilderness area. If you aren't up to all these activities you can just relax here in the park, watching the ducks in the lake and the fish jumping or fish for our trophy rainbow trout with barbless flies or barbless singe hook spinners. Our lake Catherine is catch and release only.

All of our RV sites are full hookups, which include water, sewer, electric, cable and 2 hours of free wi-fi. We have a rec-hall for our guests to gather for groups or family gatherings. There is a nice area that has picnic tables for gatherings with a large BBQ for our guests to use.
Our bathhouse has large showers and stalls, there is a laundry faclilty for the guests convience. A full running restaurant that is open year round from 9am to 7pm. There is a general store. We are located 21 miles from Burney. We have sites located around the lake, pull thrus, back-ins. There are 50 and 30amp sites. Our sites are long so we can accomidate large RV's. There are 3...

Black Rock Campground
17 miles away
Went fly fishing there for a day, it was great. Were leaving today to go on a camping trip there....Black Rock is a very beautiful place to go visit. The roads are very narrow and there are a lot of cliff sides. My grandfather lived out there for a few years on a ranch which borders the Ishi trail. I have walked the Ishi trail and that is a beautiful experience as well. It runs along a river. The whole drive in there is pretty amazing you can see the valley below plus the Big Black Rock sticking out of the ground it looks more like its own mountain....
