There is a tremendous hiking trail next to Fleischmann Lake called the Childs Meadows Trail; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Juniper Lake.

If you need a location to stay Bailey Creek Cottages is a tremendous choice; don't miss out on a splendid swamp; Cameron Meadows is right here at Fleischmann Lake. This lake is so wonderful. The Lassen
Trail is a wonderful hiking trail near Fleischmann Lake, and if you have time to spare, Lassen Volcanic National Park is a national park worth visiting. An average amount of rainfall falls at Fleischmann Lake; through the month of
November you get the most rain around here, and July on the other hand is the driest.
This lake is one of the great places here in the Southern Cascade Range. During the long summer days, highs typically are in the 70's at Fleischmann
Lake while nighttime lows are mostly in the 40's. High temperatures through the wintertime are normally in the 40's; overnight lows in the 20's for Fleischmann Lake.

Cool Springs Campground is owned by PG&E and managed by American Land and Leisure (AL&L). You may contact AL&L, at 530-284-1785, from May to October. No reservations are taken for camping. Cool Springs is generally open from early May through mid-September. The heaviest use is between mid-June through mid-August. Butt Lake is a great fishing lake. Motorboats are allowed but no skiing or jet skis. There is a nice rock\sand beach for playing.... |

I ALSO HAVE GONE CAMPING AT HOLE IN THE GROUND SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL I WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY I LOVE IT THERE AND NOW SO DO MY KIDS....
I've been going to hole in the ground, off and on for 40 years. From when I was a kid hiking in the forest, tubing down the creek, swimming in the pools, and fishing for planted trout that the hatchery would toss in the creek. Now it is a restricted salmon run, there is no planters and restrictions on the type of tackle you can use. The fishing was great as a kid. I like how peaceful it is, with the sound of creek and an occasional bluejay chirping. I enjoy cooking on the wood stoves. There are only a hand full left, (what a shame). I will be meeting one of my brothers and dad at the hole in three weeks. My large family with foster children love going to the hole. Some have been before and some will experience it for the first time. **lot of good memories**... |

Potato Patch Campground

We camp at Potato Patch campground annually with several other families. It is a very nice campground on a beautiful river. There is not a lot to do nearby though and it is a primitive campground with pit toilets and no showers. There are no hookups for RVs, but we tent camp anyway. We mostly play by the river (very cold water). Our attraction is the beauty and the people we camp with. We used to fish, but it is all catch and release. I can definitely recommend it but you have to be looking for a relaxing and beautiful setting and mostly doing not much of anything.
